London, UK – March 2025 – Stuart Jolly, Fellow of the British Dispensing Opticians and Head of Sales for the Americas at Hilco Vision, has been officially clothed as a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers in a prestigious ceremony held at Apothecaries’ Hall in the City of London.
Stuart’s journey with the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers began in March 2023 when he was made a Freeman of the Company. In September 2023, he was also granted the Freedom of the City of London. These significant milestones paved the way for his nomination and subsequent acceptance into the Livery – the highest level of membership within the esteemed organization.
Founded by Royal Charter of King Charles I in 1629, the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers is the world’s oldest optical body. Granted Livery status in 1809, the Company continues to play a central role in promoting and supporting the optical profession. Only individuals who have attained both the Freedom of the Company and the Freedom of the City of London are eligible for the distinguished title of Liveryman.
Being clothed as a Liveryman is a prestigious recognition within both the optical industry and the wider Livery community.
